9 am: Text message from boss. Get out by Wednesday morning. I have your money.
12 pm: Cell phone is cut off without any notice.
2 pm: Lose cool with boss. Boss hangs up and refuses all calls.
Evening: Steaming mad and packing. Can't wait to get my money.

I do my best packing when I'm pissed off-- it helps burn steam, AND I always do a good job jamming things in really tight! Putting on some angry music at the same time makes it even better.
Apparently so do I. It was definitely an efficient packing session. I got 10 months of living into 3 bags!
